Mira K. Desai is presently a Reader (Associate Professor) of Communication Technology, S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai. Earlier, she had held full-time positions at Development and Educational Communication Research Unit, Indian Space Research Organization, Educational Media Research Centre and Mahila Samakhya Gujarat (Ahmedabad). Her research interests include development communication, audience reception, women’s studies and Indian television. Recipient of Government of India award for her book manuscript for neo-literates in the year 2002. She is one of the Vice Presidents of Global Communication Research Association and Editorial board member of Journal of Global Communication. She has to her credit many research papers published in edited books and national and international journals of repute. She has also authored two books in Gujarati. Binod C. Agrawal is Director General, TALEEM Research Foundation; Ahmedabad. He had worked over two decades at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and pioneered use of qualitative methods for communications research during the world famous Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE). The research findings and experiences are documented in the book SITE Social Evaluation (1981) and Anthropological Methods for Communication Research (Agrawal ed., 1985). Besides over a dozen books on television, computer technology and anthropological studies, his recent publications include International Satellite Broadcasting in South Asia (Co-edited with Srinivas R. Melkote and Peter Shields 1998), Higher Education Through Television The Indian Experience (2000) and Television in South Asia (2006). He has presented research papers in national and international conferences. Also he has been Visiting Professor in various universities in India and aborad.
