Reimagining the Future of Work:
An executive’s solution for strategic transformation and consistent value generation.
We must help organizations achieve success, resilience, and measurable value by embedding project management as a strategic business function. Project Management can be indispensable for organizational success and can be a competitive advantage. Effective and integrated project management allows organizations to increase speed to market and significantly reduce projects and operating costs!
This first book, Vision Realized, is for an executive-level audience since organizations must start with the strategic aspects and the founding of a practical project management function. We cannot transform if executives do not proactively take the lead and ownership.
Therefore,
- This book explores various aspects of the current state of practice. We highlight the high failure rate of projects and project management, such as significant delays, budget problems, and missing objectives. We explore what causes failure and inhibit performance. We discuss the challenges related to the project management community, PMOs, certifications, diversity of practice, and other conditions that lead to poor project management image.
- Then, we make the case for change and why organization must shift their paradigms from tolerating failure to predetermining success.
- We propose an envisioned future. The envisioned future starts with executives and the board of directors recognizing that integrating project management into their organizations’ governance as a core organizational function is essential. We propose formally recognizing the PM Function by creating a project management division or business unit led by a CPO, Chief Project Officer.
The CPO role and PMD mandate start with supporting the strategy formulation, taking the lead on strategy execution, and disseminating a winning project management culture across the organization.
Understanding that this book offers the vision and what must be done is vital.
