Instead of fully embracing the legal profession, Castle”s passion for history and literature led him to become a dedicated writer, interweaving his diverse interests into his works. Much of his writing reflects a fascination with the past and a romanticised view of history, evident in one of his more celebrated works, “The Pride of Jennico: Being a Memoir of Captain Basil Jennico” (1898).
