Randy Hertz is a Professor of Clinical Law at NYU School of Law and serves as the Vice Dean of the law school and Director of Clinical and Advocacy Programs.Martin Guggenheim is the Fiorello La Guardia Professor of Clinical Law at New York University School of Law.Anthony G. Amsterdam is a University Professor and Professor of Law at New York University. Amsterdam has litigated extensively in trial and appellate courts for more than half a century, specializing in cases raising constitutional issues in the fields of civil rights and criminal justice. He has argued many cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, including cases that developed the principal modern-day constitutional limitations upon capital punishment. He is the author of the Trial Manual for the Defense of Criminal Cases, which was first published by ALI-ABA in 1967 and is now in its fifth edition. He began his legal career as a law clerk to Justice Felix Frankfurter, served as an Assistant United States Attorney for two years, and then entered academia, teaching first at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, then at Stanford University Law School, and then joined the faculty of NYU School of Law, where he directed the Clinical and Trial Advocacy program and the Lawyering Program for approximately a decade. He has served as counsel, as a consultant, or as a member of the board of directors or advisors for numerous civil rights organizations.
