Born in Sri Lanka, Chris Pereira developed a passionate interest in motor cycle racing while still a young schoolboy. On immigrating to England in the early 1950s, he went to work for racing dealer Arthur Taylor of Shipston-on-Stour. This provided the opportunity to attend race meetings in the “Fifties”, and brought him into contact with many well know riders. He finally achieved his greatest ambition by riding in the Classic Manx GP in 1984, and was a regular competitor in Vintage and Classic racing events until 2002. He has written articles on racing history in several Classic motorcycle magazines.
