His father, Edward White Benson, was the Archbishop of Canterbury, while his mother was Mary Sidgwick Benson, a noted suffragist. Benson was educated at Marlborough College and King’s College, Cambridge. His literary career, spanning from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, was prolific and diverse, encompassing a wide range of genres from social satires to supernatural fiction.
