The transcriptions of early church books from eight Independent churches provides a picture of the membership, fortunes and practices of the churches themselves and also of local social and agricultural conditions.
The churches are: Kensworth, 1675-1694; Keysoe Brook End, 1658-1677; Stevington, 1673-1721; Carlton, 1688-1703; Bedford/Southi Il, 1693-1723; and notes of Bedfordshire members in the Rothwe Il (Northamptonshire) Independents, c.1692, Kimbolton, 1692-17II and Hail Weston/St. Neots, 1691-1724.
