Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Bhutani is a Professor and Head of the Department of Natural Products at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), SAS Nagar and is also Director of this premier Institute. He has more than forty years of academic and industrial research experience, around 160 research papers in high impact factor peer reviewed international Journals of repute, ten books, eight book chapters, two documentaries, and twenty six reviews. He has made enormous contributions in drug discovery and development and rationalization of natural products for therapeutic usage in general and specifically in the areas of life style diseases (obesity, hyperlipidemia and diabetes), inflammation (TNF-a, IL-1b), protozoan diseases (leishmaniasis, amoebiasis etc.), viral infections (HIV), microbicides, immunomodulators and standardization of Ayurvedic Medicines and Herbal Medicinal Products. He has guided eighteen Ph D and 90 M.S. (Pharm.) students. He has developed more than eighty monographs for quality standards of Indian medicinal plants for Indian Council of Medical Research and Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. He has been project coordinator/principal investigator for more than three dozen major projects sponsored by national and international agencies, and big pharmaceutical industries and is a key member of several expert groups. Dr. Inder Pal Singh is a Professor of Natural Products Chemistry at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), SAS Nagar. He has twenty five years of research experience. His research interests include isolation of bioactive molecules from natural sources, biomimetic synthesis of bioactive natural products and their analogs for therapeutic areas such as HIV, cancer, and leishmaniasis, and standardization of herbal/Ayurvedic formulations using various analytical techniques such as HPTLC, HPLC, and quantitative NMR (q NMR). He has guided nine Ph D and 53 M.S. (Pharm.) students. He has authored more than 100 peer reviewed publications and one book on stereochemistry.
