James T. Siegel (Estados Unidos, 1937) es profesor emérito en antropología y estudios asiáticos en la Universidad Cornell de Nueva York. En 1980 fue merecedor de la Beca Guggenheim para ciencias sociales. Especialista en estudios sobre violencia política y criminal, ha publicado múltiples artículos y entre sus libros destacan The Rope of God (1969), Naming the Witch (2005) y Objects and Objections of Ethnography (2010).
