At the age of thirteen the husky Travis Singer strikes out to make a living. Life on the cattle ranch seems to be his calling. But it is during troubled times as the War Between the States is raging across the country. Nowhere is it more tumultuous than in the border states of Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky.
