Jane Armstrong was born and brought up in North London. Her first encounter with Shakespeare was through music, at an early performance of Benjamin Britten”s opera A Midsummer Night”s Dream. She has worked on the Arden Shakespeare for a number of years, as copy-editor, and later as editorial series manager and commissioning editor. She is the editor of The Arden Dictionary of Shakespeare Quotations.
