The stories come from many corners of the world – a Sudanese refugee camp, tribal Indian projects, an Ethiopian military hospital, Cambodian minefields, Mexican mountain villages and slums, Australian First Nation communities and a nursing home. Based on the experience of the author as a physiotherapist and aid worker, the stories weave a poignant tapestry.

Liz Hobbs was born in Australia in 1941. She has always taken a keen interest in the lives of marginalised people, and as a consequence worked with village people around the world, both as an aid worker and as a physiotherapist. Her writing is grounded in Buddhist philosophy and her passion for the natural world.
