A committed Christian pacifist, he was a university professor, theologian, Classics scholar, Christian ethicist, author, peace activist, spiritual director, and pastoral priest. He resigned his full professorship to work as Disarmament Director for the War Resister’s League. He co-founded the Marquette University Center for Peacemaking. A diligent researcher and gifted orator, he gave two thousand lectures nationally and internationally against wars in person and over media.
