THEORY OF INTERREGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS, A [EPUB ebook]
Integrating Neoclassical Growth Theory and New Economic Geography

Sokongan

The contemporary global economy is characterized by complex and nonlinear dynamics of interregional and international economic interactions. The complexity is associated with endogenous changes in wealth, human capital, technology, population, economic structures and gender relations. It is obviously necessary to construct a theory to connect all these changes in a single analytical framework with minimum assumptions. Nevertheless mainstream economic theory on spatial economics is mostly static and partial. This book expands on spatial economics by integrating various theories of spatial economics into a comprehensive and analytical framework through mathematical modelling and computing.

This book is part of the author’s general economic theory with endogenous population, capital, knowledge, preferences, sexual division of labor and consumption, institutions, economic structures, and exchange values over time and space. It focuses on further developing the theory of interregional and international economies and encompasses dynamic relations between population growth, human capital and wealth accumulation, environmental change, gender, institutions, market structures, the division of labor and consumption, and the determination of price structure among regions and nations in a single analytical framework.

He obtained his Master Degree and Doctorate from the Department of Civil Engineering, Kyoto University in 1987. He was invited to do research in economics in Umeå University in October 1987 and completed his dissertation on economic growth theory in June, 1989. Since then, he had been a researcher in the Swedish Institute for Futures Studies in Stockholm for 10 years. He has also worked as a visiting scholar in USA, Japan, Mainland China, Austria, Singapore and Hong Kong. His main research fields are nonlinear dynamics (synergetic economics, chaos theory, complexity theory) in economics, economic theory, ancient Confucianism, trust and justice (sociology and philosophy), and economic development and modernization of Chinese societies (mainland China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). He is the sole author of 370 academic articles (220 in peer-review international journals), 29 academic books in English by well-known international academic publishing houses, and two books of poetry (in Chinese). He is also an editorial board member of 12 peer-review international journals. Prof. Zhang is the editor of Encyclopedia of Mathematical Models in Economics (in two volumes) which is part of the unprecedented global effort, The Encyclopedias of Life Support Systems, organized by The UNESCO.
