Prof. Yun Hae Kim is a distinguished academic and leader with extensive contributions to mechanical engineering and composite materials research. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Department of Marine Engineering at National Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU) and further pursued advanced studies, receiving an ME and Ph D in Mechanical Engineering from Tokushima University and Kyushu University, Japan, respectively.With an illustrious academic career, Prof. Kim has served as a professor at KMOU, where he has specialized in composites and engineering education. His global engagement is reflected in his roles as a visiting professor at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (USA), the Naval Postgraduate School (USA), and Tokushima University (Japan).Throughout his career, Prof. Kim has held several influential leadership roles. He was Division Chief at KMOU from 2005 to 2008 and later served as the Director of the Innovation Center for Engineering Education from 2009 to 2012. He also held the positions of Dean of Student Affairs (2014–2015), Dean of Academic Affairs (2015-2016), and even acted as the interim President of KMOU in 2016. From 2019 to 2022, he served as Executive Vice President of the Korean Society for Composite Materials, where he is currently the President.His editorial expertise is equally impressive. Prof. Kim was the Editor-in-Chief of The Korean Society of Ocean Engineering (2010–2019) and has been the Chief Editor of Nano Hybrids, a publication by Trans Tech, since 2012.Prof. Kim is also deeply involved in numerous national and international academic events. He has chaired or co-chaired several high-profile conferences, including ACEE, AMDP, PHENMA, and NAC. Among his notable roles are Chair of AMDP-2014, Co-Chair of AMDP-2024, and Chair of PHENMA-2018 and 2020. His active involvement in marine engineering conferences has been supported by Busan Metropolitan City.Beyond his academic and research achievements, Prof. Kim plays a pivotal role in promoting environmental sustainability through his leadership as President of the Korean Association for Green Campus Initiative. His efforts reflect a commitment to fostering a sustainable academic environment and nurturing engineering education.With a career marked by innovation, leadership, and dedication, Prof. Yun Hae Kim has left a significant impact on the fields of engineering education, marine technology, and composites research both in Korea and internationally.Dr Sanjay Kumar is a postdoctoral researcher currently affiliated with Hanyang University, South Korea, with extensive expertise in the field of advanced composite materials. He earned his Ph D in Materials Science and Engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) in 2022. His academic journey also includes a Master of Technology in Materials Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), India, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, India.Throughout his career, Dr Kumar has made significant contributions to cutting-edge research projects, particularly in the development of lightweight thermoplastic and high-temperature composite structures for aerospace applications. He has worked on several prestigious projects under the Technology Innovation Program of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, Korea, focusing on aircraft component design and optimization.Dr Kumar’s research interests span sustainable and self-reinforced composites, nano-composites, semiconductor packaging, and fracture mechanics. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. His innovative work has been recognized with several awards, including the International Young Scientist Award at NAC 2023 and multiple Outstanding Paper Awards at international conferences in Taiwan and South Korea.As an active member of the academic community, Dr Kumar has served on organizing committees for conferences and contributed to graduate education through teaching. He has also delivered keynote addresses and invited talks at prominent conferences across Asia.With a diverse skill set that includes advanced fabrication techniques, digital image correlation, finite element modelling, and software proficiency in Ansys and Abaqus, Dr Kumar continues to explore new frontiers in materials science. His professional engagements reflect a deep commitment to both research excellence and academic development.
