Andreas Knipping ist 1952 in München geboren und lebt mit seiner Familie in Eichenau bei München. Er arbeitet als Richter am Sozialgericht München und lehrt nebenberuflich Rentenrecht. Seit den 60er-Jahren fotografiert er Eisenbahnen, sammelt historische Eisenbahnfotos und schreibt Bücher über Eisenbahngeschichte.
