Ann S. Stephens (1810 – 1886) war ein US-amerikanischer Schriftsteller. Diese Autorin ist vor allem für den Roman “Malaeska” bekannt. Sie wurde an einer Damenschule in Südbritannien erzogen und begann schon in jungen Jahren zu schreiben. Nach 1837 zog Stephens nach New York, wo sie die Stelle der Redakteurin von The Ladies Companion annahm. In den nächsten Jahren schrieb sie über 25 Serienromane sowie Kurzgeschichten und Gedichte für mehrere bekannte Zeitschriften. Durch “Malaeska” entstand der Begriff “Heftroman”.
