A beloved classic, Black Beauty is the story of a young colt who gallops freely in green meadows with his mother, Duchess. But when their kind master is forced to sell him, he begins a life of hard work and suffering. Bravely, with his unbreakable spirit, he toils on, and eventually finds happiness and comfort at a new home.
Over de auteur
Anna Sewell (1820–1878) was born and raised in England. Injured at a young age, she often relied on horse-drawn carriages, which led to her passion for horses and her belief in treating animals humanely. She wrote Black Beauty, her only published work, hoping to raise awareness of the ill-treatment of horses.
