Beatrix Potter, geboren am 28. Juli 1866 in London und gestorben am 22. Dezember 1943 in Sawrey, Lancashire, war eine englische Kinderbuchautorin und Illustratorin. Nachdem sie zunächst Grußkarten zeichnete und naturkundliche Motive, wandte sie sich Kinderbücher zu, die sie größtenteils selbst illustrierte. Ihre Geschichten wie ‘Die Geschichte von Peter Hase’ waren sehr beliebt und erfolgreich.
