Having gained a nursing qualification in general nursing at Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, Bob then completed his psychiatric nurse training at Lancaster Moor Hospital. Now retired, he spent over thirty years as a community psychiatric nurse working mainly in and around inner-city Birmingham.
He has two children and a grandson, and although born in Morecambe, Lancashire, he now lives in Worcester, on the outskirts of Birmingham, with his wife and dog.
