He holds a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. He is a writer, a contributor to On Faith, and the author of several books, including From There and Back Again: A Novel and Understand Emerging Church Theology. He lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with his wife and son.
