Sir Frank Merry Stenton (1880-1967) was president of the Royal Historical Society, professor of history at the University of Reading, and lecturer at Oxford University. He was the author of the classic historical work Anglo-Saxon England, part of the Oxford History of England. He was knighted by George VI in 1948.
