Englishman Thomas Wingfield has survived the murder of his mother, the Spanish Inquisition, and slavery aboard a galleon. Nothing, though, prepares him for Spain’s conquest of Mexico. The tragic fate of his bride—daughter of the great Aztec ruler—urges him home to England on a deadly quest for revenge in this 1893 adventure.
