This WWII memoir of a Nazi officer is one of the most revealing firsthand accounts of the German retreat on the Eastern Front. A second lieutenant of the 4th Panzer division, Hans Schufler commanded a Jagdpanther tank destroyer in rearguard actions against the Red Army in East Prussia in 1945.
