Havelock Ellis
The New Spirit (Barnes & Noble Digital Library) [EPUB ebook]

Ondersteuning

An engrossing collection of literary essays, The New Spirit was Havelock Ellis’s first book. In it he attempts to trace “the modern spirit” through the works of five great writers—Diderot, Heine, Whitman, Ibsen, and Tolstoy. Controversial when published, the book remains essential reading for anyone interested in Ellis’s early work and philosophy.

Over de auteur

Henry Havelock Ellis (1859–1939) was an English physician, sexologist, and social reformer. He conducted pioneering research that led to his momentous seven-volume work Studies in the Psychology of Sex. His works on homosexuality, transgender psychology, narcissism and autoeroticism were groundbreaking. A supporter of women’s rights, sexual education, and sexual liberation, he did much to pave the way for researcher Alfred Kinsey and others.
