Katharina Kakar ist promovierte Religionswissenschaftlerin und Anthropologin. Nach Lehraufträgen an der FU Berlin lebt sie heute in Goa (Indien), wo sie als Autorin und bildende Künstlerin tätig ist. Sie ist Gründerin und Vorsitzende des Tara Trust für Kinder und Frauen. Zusammen mit Sudhir Kakar hat sie bei C.H.Beck veröffentlicht: Die Inder. Porträt einer Gesellschaft (2006).
