Matthias Brandl, Jahrgang 1978, ist in Marktredwitz geboren und in der Oberpfalz aufgewachsen. Er studierte Mathematik und Physik in Bayreuth. Seine wissenschaftliche Laufbahn führte ihn nach
Stationen an den Universitäten Bayreuth, Augsburg und Erlangen-Nürnberg an die Universität Passau. Seit 2011 hat er dort die Professur für Didaktik der Mathematik inne.
