Tales from the Sak-Sak: Doing Nasho in New Guinea was a jointly authored effort by six old Australian blokes remembering their youth, Nasho and New Guinea. They served out their National Service conscription as ‘Chalkies’, Education Corps Sergeants in 2PIR (Second Pacific Islands Regiment), at Moem Barracks, Wewak, in the Australian Territory of Papua New Guinea in 1966-1967.
The six co-authors were Laurie Mowman, Rick Larsen, Bob Mason, Max Quanchi from Victoria and Peter Suna and John Sweeney from New South Wales. Edited and compiled by Max Quanchi from letters sent home, memories and written accounts.
