Mike-Philip Williams’s journey as an inventor began 33 years ago. When he was 22, he saw a possible way of solving the problem of ventilating polytunnels. The potential solution would be efficient, low-cost, resource friendly and commercially rewarding. Dialogue with manufacturers interspersed with degree projects led to an interminable succession of prototypes.The desired commercial outcome has remained elusive. However, the endeavour not only sparked off other innovative ideas, it also led Mike to examine the trials, tribulations and frustrations of the inventor in general, abstract terms.At every turn, the inventor meets boundaries. In practical terms they’re sometimes uncrossable. The only way through, round or over them is via the imagination.This collection of poems encapsulates Mike-Philip’s way-potentially, every innovator’s way-of achieving freedom at the boundary.
