The first edition of this book, published in 1979 under the name Aquatic Weeds, was a good success, but du-ing the last eight years several thousands of new references have been added in Literature and it definitely required updating. This second edition is based on relevant literature available up to 1985. Almost all aquatic weeds mentioned in the edition have been sketched, and modern plant classification has been followed in describing these weeds. The problems created by aquatic weeds in different situations in the country have been illustrated state wise. Besides, a general view of global aquatic weed problems has also been included. Principles and methods of aquatic weed control, have been dealt with in five different chapters. The modern research techniques and practical application aspects for each method of control, including physical, chemical, biological and design control have been discussed inadequate details. The Appendices include a detailed list of source of latest information on aquatic weeds and a comprehensive glossary of terms used in aquatic weed science, besides the several ready reckoners. The author sincerely hopes that the readers would gin from this second attempt and would be kind enough to write to the author for gaps which they consider should be taken care of in the third edition. 1987, 300 pages approximate, 46 figures.
