Paul D. Hoch is a life-long resident of Pennsylvania, having lived from age four to twenty-two in Carlisle. A career stint with J. C. Penney took him to points both east and west in the state, but he returned to Carlisle in 1974 and began a career with Hershey Foods Corporation in 1977 from which he retired. He”s had a long time interest in both local history and writing, although this book is his first formally published effort. He is an active volunteer in various non-profit groups and is currently President of the Board of Trustees of the Cumberland County Historical Society. He is also a folk art wood carver in the Pennsylvania German tradition. He and his wife, Lois, have been married fifty-five years, live in Carlisle and have three children and five grandchildren.
