This book discusses the architecture, design and implementation of critical components of Sustainable Smart Cities to support governance, transportation, energy, healthcare, factories, technologies, securities, agriculture and education. The authors discuss the background of sustainable smart cities architectures and technologies and describe the problems that arise in design and implementation. In particular, this book discusses a proposed, 6G-based framework and architecture of Io T based sustainable smart cities. The authors describe the use of artificial intelligence in many zones of cities to increase the system’s performance and efficiency. With the detailed discussion of energy management in smart cities, they have also presented how Internet of Vehicles (Io V) uses wireless communication and sensing technology to establish a network of information exchange between vehicles, infrastructure, and the environment. The discussion also includes Internet of Medical Things (Io MT) as well as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for Io T based sustainable smart cities. This book explores societal, economic, and practical reforms that would promote smart cities, based on a variety of case studies.

Priyanka Mishra is Post doctorate at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Science, University of Johannesburg, Priyanka does research in Communication Engineering. Her current research area is ‘Wireless communications.’
Ghanshyam Singh received Ph D degree in Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, in 2000. Currently, he is working as a full Professor and Director: Centre for Smart Information and Communication Systems, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Sciences, Auckland Park Kingsway Campus, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Earlier, he was associated with Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani, and Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar, India, respectively, where he was Research Scientist. He was a Visiting Researcher at the Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea. He has worked as a Professor with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Jaypee University of Information Technology, Wakanaghat, Solan, India. He is an author/co-author of more than 290 scientific research papers of the refereed Journal and International Conferences. His research and teaching interests include Millimeter/THz Wave Technologies its Applications in Communication and Imaging, Next-Generation Communication Systems (5G/6G)/Cognitive Radio/NOMA, Resource Allocation and Management, Interference Management, Applications of 5G/6G in Sustainable Smart City, Industry 4.0/5.0, Healthcare 4.0, Intelligent Transport System, Energy Management (Io E) and Digital Farming. He has more than 22 years of teaching and research experience from Academia and Research & Development Institutions. He has supervised 16 Ph D and 42 MTech. Theses (Awarded). He has executed several sponsored research projects of ISRO, DRDO and currently working on 5G Enabling Technology localization sponsored by SENTECH. He is the author of several books and bookchapters published by Springer, Elsevier, IET, Wiley and CRC. He is editor/guest editor of several peer review journals and delivered keynote and plenary talk in International Conferences.
