Sergio Blanco wurde 1971 in Montevideo geboren und studierte Sprachwissenschaft und Darstellende Kunst. Nach Arbeiten als Regieassistent und Regisseur in Uruguay, ging er 1993 mit einem Stipendium nach Paris, wo er an der Comédie Française arbeitete. Seit 2008 ist er Leiter des Ensembles COMPLOT; seit 2013 künstlerischer Leiter des europäischen Projekts Crossing Stages an der Universidad Carlos III in Madrid. Sergio Blanco lebt in Paris.
