Irina Angelescu is a Ph D candidate in international history and politics at the Graduate Institute of Geneva, Switzerland and a Research Assistant at the Brookings Institution”s Center on the United States and Europe. She most recently contributed to the volume The European Union Foreign Policy, edited by Federiga Bindi and published by the Brookings Institution Press in 2009. Her areas of expertise include: migration policies of the United States and Europe and the EU enlargement and foreign policies.Sergiu Gherghina is a Ph D researcher at the Department of Political Science, University of Leiden. He got his MA in Political Science from Central European University in Budapest and a MPhil in Institutional Analysis from the Department of Political Science, University of Leiden. His major fields of interest are political parties (party organizations) in new democracies, legislative behavior, and democratization. Paul Flather is Secretary General of the Europaeum and a Fellow at Oxford University for over a decade. He was the Founding Chief Executive, Secretary General and member of the Senate of the Central European University and co-founder of the Open Society Fund’s Civic Education Forum. He was formerly a journalist working for the BBC, Times newspapers and the New Statesman where he was deputy editor and was elected to many national education bodies.
