The effects of climate change on food production and security are many and varied and represent one of the biggest challenges facing humanity today. As the human population increases there is increasing pressure on land availability and water resources. In many staple crops, warming temperatures have caused decreases in overall yields but at the same time the demand for cheaper and more sustainable food has increased.
This edited volume examines the effects of climate change on all aspects of food production and how this is affecting food security in many parts of the world. The book presents a series of chapters which describe new technologies aimed at mitigating these effects via, for example, genetic modification, microbial science, and the introduction of new crops.

Professor Ram Lakhan Singh is presently holding the position of Vice-Chancellor, Nilamber- Pitamber University, Medininagar, Palamu, Jharkhand. He has been on the Board of Management of Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, Gorakhpur and Member of Executive Council of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. Professor Singh held the position of Professor of Biochemistry and Coordinator, Biotechnology Programme at Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, India prior to joining this assignment. He also held positions of Head, Departments of Biochemistry and Environmental Science; Dean, Faculty of Science; Dean, Students’ Welfare and Director, Institute of Engineering & Technology in the same University. He has 35 years of experience as teacher and 43 years as researcher.
