Supriyo Bandyopadhyay is Commonwealth Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University. He received a B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India; an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois; and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. He spent one year as Visiting Assistant Professor at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana (1986–1987), and then nine years on the faculty of University of Notre Dame. In 1996, he joined University of Nebraska-Lincoln as Professor of Electrical Engineering, and then in 2001, moved to Virginia Commonwealth University as Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a courtesy appointment as Professor of Physics. He directs the Quantum Device Laboratory in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Anjan Barman is Senior Professor at S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, India. He received his Ph.D. at IACS, Jadavpur University (1999), and worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at Technion, Israel (1999–2000), at the University of Exeter, UK (2001–2004), at the University of Leeds, UK (2004–2005), and at the University of California, Santa Cruz, USA (2005–2006). He was then appointed as Asst. Prof. position at the Univ. South Carolina, USA (2006), before moving to Asst. Prof. position, IIT Delhi, India (2006–2009). He has supervised more than 90 research students, postdoctoral fellows and scientists and has secured 16 research grants (13 completed, 3 ongoing). He has been awarded with several research awards—the most recent one being Elected Fellow of Institute of Physics (IOP), UK (2021). His research activities focus on nanomagnetism and spintronics, magnetic thin films, nanostructures, multilayers, heterostructures, and spin-orbitronics among others.
