Dr. Ashok V. Gadewar had his Post graduation and Doctorate in Agriculture from Punjabrao Krishi Vidyapeeth, Maharashtra, and Udaipur University, Rajasthan, India. His research work was on fungal diseases, under famous pathologists Dr. R. Prasada and Dr. B.S. Siradhana. His education all through post matriculation in agricultural system exposed him to element of Plant Protection and was a recipient of ICAR Jnior fellowship during M.Sc. in Plant Pathology. He joined Agricultural Research Services of Indian Council of Agricultural Research as a Scientist S1, Principal Scientist since 1998. He has been throughout with the Premier Institute Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla. He has worked on integrated disease and pest management, has wide exposure to the field problems, seed production and now specializes in bacterial diseases. He underwent training on Plant and Microbial Molecular Genetics at Monash University, Australia, and has presented his research in International conferences in France and Canada. He had established for the first time hitherto unknown two-way virulence shift in Ralstonia solanacearum besides antibiotic induced virulence. His work on rapid genomic changes in recalcitrant R. solanacearum that causes plant wilt in solanaceous crops allover the world has opened fresh avenues to look into break down of resistance in host plants. He is on the editorial board of Indian Journal of Mycology and Plant Pathology, the official Journal of Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Rajasthan (India) since long time.
