Bald is Beautiful!

For C. Carol Brown, writing stories is giving voice to the lies she can’t tell in person. She has been lying—er, writing—for as long as she can remember. Her poems have been published in Kola (Vol.9 No.1, 1997) and in sistahspeak (Vol.8 No. 1/2, 1995). She has written two editorials for the Toronto Star entitled “Merry at Christmas and Proud” (Dec. 8, 2003), and “Rebuilding a Culture of Pride” (Feb. 6, 2004).
This story came to her on a sunny afternoon as she was lounging in a hammock in Pearl Lagoon, Nicaragua, watching a large bird soar through the bright blue sky. A few hours later, Baldwin was born.
This is the first of what she hopes will be many published books including a series for preteens and something a bit more titillating for adult readers.
