Meditations on Plato’s cognitive dialogues in the light of realisative philosophy

Wsparcie

In this book, the Platonic dialogues on knowledge (Charmides, Theaetetus, Sophist, Epinomis) are explained in the light of the philosophy of realization.
Knowledge begins with the sensorial mechanisms, arrives at the dianoetic mind, which analyzes and compares and which then flows into the
nòesis – superconscious intuition, which
has the power of synthesis and revelation – , to end in the Knowledge of identity that resolves itself in the Absolute-
Agathòn, which is comparable to the
Nirguṇa Brahman of the
Advaita Vedānta.
In the book are presented useful comparisons with the philosophy of Shamkara who, with different language, says the same things as Plato, for the simple fact that the “experience” of the Absolute can be one and one only.
The two languages (Western and Eastern) illumine each other giving the reader the possibility of penetrating the gnoseological doctrine and that of daring towards the luminous peaks of Wisdom.
In its realizative aspect, Philosophy brings awareness to the deepest “zones” of Being where the fluctuating waves of multiplicity no longer dwell, but where reigns the
pax profunda of Unity, which is consubstantial with Power, Wisdom, Love.
“Athenian: – Graces are given to those who have acquired that wealth of knowledge relating to the pacifying science which is Philosophy” (
Epinomis 992d)
Giuseppe Muscato is the founder of the non-profit association Paideia whose members have been involved in both Eastern and Western realizing Philosophy for more than thirty years. This book is the result of the collaboration of the entire Paideia group which have tackled the Platonic page with determination and love.
