An influential part of Heather’s working life was in regional and remote areas of Australia with a leisure time emphasis on camping, kayaking and observing the environment.During July 2010 to June 2020, Heather transformed the exterior of her (c1978) ordinary cream brick house at Nuriootpa into an extraordinary home wrapped in glittering mosaic created mostly from recycled crockery, tiles and glass.Heather’s garden was featured in Australia’s Open Garden Scheme (2014) and in an episode of 'Poh and Co’ (2015).The Andamooka house was intended to be a winter retreat. Minimal gardening. A place to sit in the sunshine and reflect on different art media and maybe write a novel. With new friendships formed and art exhibitions co-ordinated, this Andamooka outback adventure has led to other undertakings including the publication of a series of children’s books.Share the progress of these collage experiments of repurposing and recreating using everyday objects with Heather on Facebook @ Rhagodia Mosaics and Collage and sometimes on Instagram @ rhagodia_mosaics_and_collage’Barossa Nanna and the Chook Collage’ is a recently published counting collage for children, following on from 'Barossa Nanna and the Lonely Chook’, Heather’s first published book which gently deals with grief and loss in a way that children can understand.
