When Essie Feebler tells her estranged husband, Bernie, to drop dead, she isn’t speaking literally. It’s just like Bernie to actually drop dead, and to pick the worst time and location to do it – the Coffee Cave, after drinking the double latte with six pumps of almond, which Essie herself prepared for him. In the course of their investigation, Detectives Valdez and Murray discover that Bernie isn’t the only corpse connected to Essie. They go looking for her with a warrant.
