John Jones was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia. He graduated from Warwick High School and later from William & Mary V. P.I. (Now Old Dominion University), Norfolk, Virginia. He retired after 42 years as a Marine Design Engineer and now lives in Brentwood, Tennessee.
