Prof. H.S. Sharma (b. 1945) holds postgraduate and doctoral degrees in Geography from the University of ·Saugar, Madhya Pradesh. He has travelled widely across the U.K., the U.S.A., Germany, Holland, Canada and Norway and has over 75 papers and a dozen books to his credit. He has supervised nearly three dozen Ph.Ds. Prof. Sharma has successfully conducted several research projects sponsored by the U.G.C. Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi, DRDO and NORAD, Norway. He is a former Director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Human Ecology, Environment and Population Studies (HEEPS), Academic Staff College, and Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He is the founder member of many national and international associations. Recipient of the UGC Career Award in 1979 and the ISEER Award in 2000, Dr. Sharma is former Professor of Geography, and a Chancellor”s nominee in the Syndicate, University of Rajasthan. He is the President of the Commonwealth Human Ecology Council (India Chapter).
