Samuel Freeman es un filósofo estadunidense especialista en las teorías de la justicia, el contrato social y la filosofía política de John Rawls. Se desempeña como profesor de humanidades, filosofía y derecho en la Universidad de Pensilvania. Su obra se centra en los campos de la filosofía social, la ética, la filosofía política y la filosofía del derecho. Es autor, entre otros, de Justice and Social Contract (2006). Asimismo, editó The Cambridge Companion to Rawls (2002), Lectures on the History of Political Philosophy (2007) y Rawls: Collected Papers (1999). Actualmente trabaja en una obra sobre el liberalismo y la justicia distributiva.
