Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925-2006) was a leading Scottish poet, artist, sculptor and gardenerhis garden at Little Sparta has been described as the only truly original garden created since 1945″. He was also a formidable controversialist and indefatigable correspondent.
Stephen Bann is a poet, historian and cultural critic. He was a friend of Finlay”s from his student days, and is now Emeritus Professor of the history of art at Bristol University.
