Carol Brown Janeway (1944­2015) was a publisher, books editor and one of the world’s finest translators of literary works from several languages. Her most notable translations include Bernhard Schlink’s The Reader and F by Daniel Kehlmann, and in 2014 she was awarded the prestigious Ottaway Award for the Promotion of International Literature.
