The murder of an American marine biologist on the remote island of Atauro, north of East Timor’s capital of Dili, turns a tropical paradise into a hotbed of intrigue. FBI agent Sara Carter, on secondment to the local INTERPOL mission, is sent by her embassy to ensure the widow’s speedy return to the US and her father-an influential senator-no matter what. Timorese police investigator Vincintino Cordero is assigned the case with instructions to keep Carter at bay and prove Timor’s law enforcement system is thorough and effective in order to strengthen its case for continued US aid. Chris Mc Gillion is a regular visitor to East Timor where he has been involved in media development initiatives and conducted research into the communication of agricultural science in remote mountain communities. He is a former journalist whose work has been published in Australia, the US and the United Kingdom and has taught politics, philosophy and communication skills at four universities in Australia. He has authored or co-authored a number of non-fiction books on subjects as diverse as US-Cuban relations, clerical sexual abuse, and religious sociology. He lives in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Australia.
