Lu You’s poetic discourse is profound and wide, with unique wisdom, continuing Feng Sao, carrying Tao Yuanming and Xie Lingyun, as well as Li Bai, Du Fu, Cen Shen, Bai Juyi, and recently following Mei Yaochen, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Zeng Ji, putting forward poetic theories such as "the work is outside the poem" and "the poet’s three qualities". Most of the Notes on Poets and Poetry of the Song Dynasty were written by poets or scholars, and the present book, Fangweng Notes on Poets and Poetry, is compiled after the example of Dongpo Notes on Poets and Poetry, whose poetic theory can be seen. This book is divided into four parts: original text, commentary, translation, and tasting, hoping to let readers feel the extraordinary poetic world.
