David R. Harris was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved shortly thereafter to California. He grew up in an area that later became known as Silicon Valley, the birthplace of the computer industry. In 1989 he moved to a small coastal town near Half Moon Bay, California. He has been employed in the trucking industry since 1973. He feels that having a seemingly mundane driving job has been beneficial for the fact that it has left his mind free for its own creative thoughts. In 2010 he wrote a poem for a friend’s eightieth birthday. After that, the words and rhymes just kept coming. An avid surfer since age fourteen, he has now become involved in new innovations in the stand-up paddle board industry and is currently starting production on some new types of boards, fins, and rudder systems. His poems are about life, love, passion, sense, and nonsense.
