David Masson (1822-1907) was a Scottish writer and early advocate of higher education for women. He was personally acquainted with such literary luminaries as De Quincey, Thomas Carlyle, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. He is best known for his six-volume biography of Milton, Life of Milton in Connexion with the History of His Own Time.
